Sport Fisherman Sinks off SC Coast
GEORGETOWN, SC (11/04/08) --

The 46 foot sport fisherman Vision Quest sank yesterday off the coast of South Carolina. The vessel went down just north of Winyah Bay not far from Georgetown. The US Coast Guard stated two men on board abandoned the sinking vessel for an inflatable boat.

The Vision Quest's hailing port is listed as Kent Narrows, Maryland. Thirty-nine year old owner Gary Pache of Cherry Hill, New Jersey and thirty-five year old Brent Burman were reported to be in good condition and safe. The two men were rescued by another boat responding to the apparent emergency broadcast related to the sinking.

The Coast Guard is reportedly working to secure and salvage the vessel which had about 500 gallons of fuel on board when it sank. The Coast Guard reports no environmental impact by leaking fuel at this time.
