Sailing Vessel Pride Found in Georgetown, SC
PORTSMOUTH, VA (12/15/07) --

The thirty foot sailing vessel Pride, reported missing since early December, showed up under tow Thursday in Georgetown, SC. The Coast Guard had announced the suspension of active search efforts just days before.

The thirty foot, single masted, sailboat departed from Lewes, Delaware on November 30th heading for Panama with two souls on board. The Pride did not check in as scheduled on Dec. 2.

The Coast Guard started looking for the vessel immediately after they were notified the two sailors were missing. Their search covered nearly 50,000 square nautical miles from Delaware to Miami ending only days before the Pride limped into Georgetown. The Coast Guard noted the sailors had not filed a detailed float plan and did not have an EPIRB on board.
